A groundbreaking partnership
for better care
Like so many US healthcare providers, Augusta University Health System (formerly Georgia Regents Health System) faced the operational reality of a poor payer mix, flat reimbursements, aging technology, inefficient processes, and the need to take cost out of an already constrained pool of resources. Against this backdrop, they turned to Philips to explore new ways to work together to change the status quo.
In June 2013, Philips and Augusta University Health announced an industry-defining Managed Services Alliance valued at $300M over a 15-year term. The Alliance model, the first-ever partnership of this type in the U.S. and one of the largest in the world, aims to improve outcomes and deliver more effective and cost-efficient care to millions of patients across Georgia and South Carolina.
Based in Augusta, Georgia, Augusta University Health is a world-class healthcare network, offering the most comprehensive primary, specialty, and subspecialty care in the region.
The accomplishments of the first two years of our Alliance encompass a broad range of clinical, financial and operational activities too numerous to list. But perhaps above all, the first phase has been about aligning and positioning the Augusta University Health-Philips team shoulder-to-shoulder to face next year’s challenges – and those of the next 13 years. For a more complete list of Alliance accomplishments, see the Augusta University Health case study below.
